THE OLD PIPERS LEGACY

(Written By: Phil Mathison)
THE OLD PIPER'S LEGACY

LAMENT

The old piper stared into the west,
'Folks are crossing o'er the sea.
Tomorrow's tugging at their sleeves,
And soon it'll call for me.
Though their future's uncertain,
My destination's well known.
But mine is a dark journey,
And I must face it alone.'

CHORUS

'So I'll play one last time for the merry,
And I'll play one last time for the sad.
For these hands once nimble are weary,
May the dance go on when I'm dead
May the dance go on when I'm dead.'

They say Tir Na Nog lies in the west,
Though no one can be too sure.
But I can be sure of one thing,
Someday soon I'll play no more.
So these pipes I will leave to you,
An old piper's legacy.
For the dance must go on and on,
Play on, remember me…..'

CHORUS

LAMENT
